    Mosin-Nagants Empty Mosin-Nagants

Post by Charlie Foxtrot Thu Mar 06, 2014 1:22 pm

For all of us afflicted with anachronistic, crude, brutal, cheap, historical artifacts from Россия-Матушка.

I've got two: a 1891/30 tomato stake and a very nice M44 Carbine. I'd love to get my hands on a M38 Carbine as well as the Finnish 91 variant.

I carry an M38 in the car....
I find they are not as easy to come by as they once were. They are just the right size and you don't have to worry with drifting the sites due to the pig sticker that the M44 has.
However, the M38 does let you know it is smaller when fired.....  drunken

Always been interested in these, and remember Doc's podcast about them. Is it possible to find non-corrosive ammo, though?

yes.. but you don't need it...just take some ammonia and water and swab it out before using your favorite cleaner and lube as usual... will be no issue.

Good money after bad. Save your shekels and buy an M14 or FAL. I am firmly convinced that quality is best over the long run. M-G's will likely never be "collector" items, just like that stupid rifle that JFK was allegedly shot with isn't.

I have a couple myself. I like the history behind them.
I have a pre WWII Tula, a war time Izzy and a romainian M44.
Fun to shoot and ammo is cheap.
Cabellas has pretty cheap bnon corrosive ammo if you dont want to go with the military surplus.
