Wilson Combat Customization?

I've only ever heard good things about Wilson Combat. I see they have customization options for the Beretta 92FS to convert to a 92G at a great price....I'd read the only real option was to get a new slide but Wilson will do for $150 which is way less than a slide.

All the talk on Gun Nation podcast about gun safeties is pushing me toward changing to the "G" option which simply turns the decocker/safety to a decocker only. I read the "G" comes from "Gendarmerie"~~apparently the French military wasn't too excited about handgun safeties either

What are your thoughts, and have you ever had any work done by Wilson Combat?

Wilson is an old name that has had its ups and downs. For a while it made lousy guns, but it has apparently straightened itself out.

I do not have a Wilson handgun. I have a Wilson barrel (in .300BLK). It has proven to be a solid barrel with good accuracy. I hunt with it.

Others who do a lot of shooting seem to like Wilson stuff - now. In particular, Wilson apparently has gotten the services of a Beretta guru who makes really neat 92's and stuff. So if you are looking for 92 pieces I would not be terribly worried about Wilson.

As for the whole safety/decocking issue, my sense is that there is little reason to HAVE a safety if you decock the darned weapon. ?You see any safeties on wheelies. Your "safety" is the same long DA pull. The next ones are easier, on the assumption that if you wish to keep firing, no sense limiting how much effort you need to put into it. So I'm all for this.

Don't want to derail this topic, but was wondering what you hunt with your 300 blk rifle.

Deer. I hunt in Wisconsin, where the practical long shot is maybe 100 yds. There is ONE place on Jack's farm where you can make a 2-400 yd shot, and if I sit there, I take my Win Mod 70 .300 WinMag. But for most of the farm the .300 BLK will do fine. Indeed, it has kind of replaced my Marlin Guide Gun. I grant the latter is .45-70 but I think .300 BLK with 150 gr bullets is fine. Probably would reach 200 yds if pushed. Don't really have access to longer, and I haven't played with ballistic data for a while. SOMEWHERE in my house there is a ballistic calculator disc - from, Sierra I think - that allows you to either select a regular load or make up your own. I think you can also find this on the web but I'm unsure just where.
