We need to win elections so that we can take power to make the laws and appoint judges that will respect the 2nd Amendment. Too few gunowners bother to vote, many that do vote for anti-gun Democrats because their union tells them to do so.

How can we turn it around? I am thinking we need to encourage the people that we know. Friends, family, people we know at the range or sporting goods store. It would also be a good idea to take young people shooting. Todays kids are tomorrows voters, teach them how to be safe and responsible gun owners and we inoculate them against voting for gun control in the future. If you got children, consider buying them a life membership to the NRA.

Political victory comes with rational discussion, making people understand just what is at stake, what the government is proposing, and why it is bad. Among the many reasons, the government's ability to protect us is limited. Government is really designed to punish those who they catch AFTER a transgression; they have little ability to prevent such. If one has doubt, one only needs to look at the death toll in Chicago, where the government makes great efforts to remove your ability to defend yourself.

Statistics people can understand also help. For instance, Memphis is a very violent town. Tennessee has a CCW law which requires not only certification, but recertification. In Memphis pretty much ALL the CCW certs are done by one guy. He notes that in the years that he has been doing this, he has had 56 of his "students" involved in violent episodes. 52 survived; the 4 that didn't weren't armed at the time. That's a message anyone can understand.
