Was at the local shop yesterday and they pulled out a Ruger tube fed semi auto 44 mag carbine to show me. Wondered if any of you had seen one before or shot one. Looks like a 10/22 but a little bigger. 40 or 50 year old gun? Sounds kind of interesting.

Re: Haven't seen one of these before
I've only seen pictures.
I would assume it would be just like their 44 mag autoloader that shoots from the rotary mag, but I often make stupid assumptions that get me in trouble.

Yeah, this one is tube fed like a shotgun--which allows it to hold more than the rotary mag (maybe just 1 round more).

Seems I remember those from back in the late 60's. I believe hunters up in NE used them, and a .44 mag pistol as companion guns out in the field. But I never actually shot one.

I put the gun on hold and then put it on layaway. I figured that would take it off the shelf and give me more time to decide.

Sounds like a heck of a rifle at a heck of a deal. I'd probably get it if it was at my local gun shop.
But my local gun shop has its head too far rammed up its tactical anus to get a rifle as nice as that. But that's another story.

Yeah, that's what keeps me visiting this particular local shop. They always have something new or old that draws me in. Most of the other shops and box stores have too much of the same old stuff.
