I found a really good deal on a CZ 97B at a local pawn shop. I put a few bucks down on it to put it on "layaway" and reserve it for me. Has anybody shot one of these before? I know Avg Joe did a review on one that he snagged up and he seemed to really like it. Curious if any of you guys have opinions on it before I decide to pick it up or pass.

Re: CZ 97B in 45ACP Deal
Welllllllll?
Inquiring minds want to know... mine, too.
Been thinking about a suppressed pistol. .45 ACP, because it's barely supersonic on its best day, seems to be a likely candidate. And the 97B is an intriguing choice. The other natural selection would be a 4th Gen Glock 21, but that's really large, too much a clown gun.

Re: CZ 97B in 45ACP Deal
I ended up picking it up. Too good of a deal to pass up. I paid $300 for it--it was in excellent condition minus a cracked barrel bushing (only a $35 part) and missing a magazine. I ordered 3 magazines for about $25 each and the replacement bushing. The finish looks amazing still--no real scratches or anything. The gun shoots well and I like it. Plus, it is made out of metal--I will probably keep it until I die. It is a great big brother to my cz75-sp01. I have thought about selling my hk45 ever since I picked this up. I will probably not shoot my hk45 after buying this. The 97B shoots real smooth and handles the 45 cartridge well. I still want to put tons of rounds through it though. As far as shooting suppressed, I currently use my sig p220 as my 45acp host.

Thanks!
Hells bells. Looks like a threaded barrel for the 97B is unobtainium. So it's the G21 or P220.

Re: CZ 97B in 45ACP Deal
Those 97B's are actually fairly rare. They usually go for about $800+. I tried buying one for $800 but the guy wanted $875 and I decided I didn't want to part with the cash. But at $300 I would have gotten it - just because.
Don't get rid of your HK. It is a solid gun and worth some cash, and it, too, is a bit of a legacy gun. My only issue with the HK is that it is finicky about OAL of cartridge and ogive comes into play. One has to fiddle with that when reloading. I have my press set for relatively short OAL just so it will shoot in the HK.

Funny part about it is that CZ mags usually cost an arm and a leg, but I got some mecgar mags (work very well) which were only like $25 each.

Yeah, I like this one quite a bit. It shoots real nice. I've been shooting a whole lot more 45 acp lately because of it.
