A gun buddy and I have been looking at the 6.5 Grendel cartridge and were thinking about how cool it would be to have one in a light bolt gun config with maybe an 18-22" barrel and not too heavy of a stock. As I looked into it a little further, I found that a couple of guys were converting CZ 527 rifles chambered in 7.62x39 into Grendel rifles without too much work. If I did this, that rifle would go from being a 200-300 yard rifle (max) to maybe a 600-800 yard rifle. Being a bolt gun and having a little more room for tweaking (overall length and pressure) than in the AR platform, this could be a really cool little rifle. Anyways, after looking at a few barrel options in the $300-500 price range, I am thinking that this might be a tax return fun project. What do you think?
As a side note, the local shop just got in a bunch of hornady 6.5 Grendel brass and dies.
