Pink AR-15 build for the Daughter Empty Pink AR-15 build for the Daughter

Post by Cornmastah Thu Aug 25, 2016 7:37 pm

My oldest daughter's bday is coming up next month, so I asked her what she wanted for her bday. She told me the typical 11 year old stuff, like rollerblades, money, clothes, etc... I showed her a picture of a pink AR-15 lower I saw at the local shop and told her about building AR15's. I told her about how you can buy pink and purple grips, stocks, etc... and accessorize them however you want. She got really excited and asked me questions about AR-15's and about building them.

Lately she has been wanting to shoot farther distances than what her little Crickett .22 and little fixed 4 power scope can do. She told me she wanted one. I told her that if she really wanted one, she could throw that onto her bday list and we could see. I went gun shopping for her and came to the conclusion that the AR15 platform is really the best gun for her. The AR-15 is capable of shooting out to 500-600 yards with the right 223 loads, is semi auto (like she wanted), has an adjustable stock (so it can grow with her), and doesn't kick much, & etc...

Yesterday when my wife looked at our daughter's bday list, which my daughter prioritized by importance, she noticed the pink AR-15 lower at spot #2. She asked her about it and my daughter confirmed that she wanted a pink AR-15 lower that she could build with dad. I think that seals the deal. Daughter is getting a pink AR-15 lower for her bday from dad--mom or the grandparents can get her the roller blades.

I'm (slowly) building a pink AR for The Princess (wife.) It's based on a S&W M&P-15 Sport I, with the addition of Magpul's pink MOE handguard, pistol grip and stock. As soon as I find the right color of Pepto-Bismol  pink, an old aluminum mag will get the treatment.

As you would expect, the Magpul pink furniture is top notch, and even the right shade of pink, which seems to be important to the girlies. As of about 6 months ago, I saw Magpul was still offering the pink furniture: it seems to be an occasional thing.

The Sport I is currently my duty rifle, and I'm (very) slowly modifying the Sport II bought to replace it. As always, life is a series of cascading priorities. But The Princess still wants her rifle NOW!  Wink

Parenting, Corn, you're doing it right!

Ah! Always good to see women interested in weaponry. My daughter is getting serious about this guy she met and he doesn't shoot - but apparently she took him shooting her guns and he liked it and wants to learn more. So she taught him first about safety and safe gun. handling, and then supervised his shooting. He had a great time and wants to go again.

    Daughters can be such fun!

I am really excited to give her the stripped lower for her Bday. It will be something that will last her a lifetime and build good memories together as a family. Building it together and then shooting it together--what more could you ask for?

You are fortunate. I tried something similar with my daughter once. She wasn't interested.

She's a big fan of the Marvel super hero movies, though. When I pointed out that "Black Widow" (Scarlett Johansson) shoots a pair of 9mm Glocks, that got her attention and got her interested in learning how to shoot a Glock 19.

    Ha ha, nice!

My daughter's bday is this week, so we will see what she thinks about the new pink ar lower.

Already have the Princess'es pink Magpul furniture. All I need is the time... and energy... to install them.

Nice... The lower parts kit and upper came today for my daughter's AR. I just need to get the bcg and charging handle--although I can always borrow them from one of my others if we want to get it running sooner.

Those guys seem to have a lot of stuff on sale. You can get whole uppers for like $300 when they have a sale on them.

Friend just got one of those S&W's with the furniture taken off and MagPul stuff put on. It's actually quite nice. Gray, though.

How'd you like the gray Magpul on the rifle? I'm considering gray for my 18" SBRish build. Or Baby Shit Brown Flat Dark Earth.

Actually, I liked it a lot. The gun is black otherwise, so the gray kind of set it off without being flashy. Nothing like Corn's (and your) pink. Looked quite business-like.

ha ha, color wise, I'm probably one of the few guys who still runs "foliage green" aka split pea soup colored AR furniture. I bought a bunch of stuff when magpul was closing it out--and got it cheap.

I personally can't get into all the colour stuff. I like my stuff either black (blue) or shiny (hard chrome). Just me. So for my AR's they can be any colour as long as it's black. Although my 300BLK does have a chrome barrel - only way Wilson makes them.
